How to plan a cycling trip for 2 through Europe

Thinking of cycling Europe?

Don't know how to get started planning? Don't know what to take? Don't think you can afford it?

You'll Want to Read This!

What if everything you and your partner needed to bicycle Europe for 3 months, including your tandem or single bikes, fit into 2 small suit cases and some carry-on luggage? Would that make a trip like this sound more attainable? What if you could bicycle Europe as a couple, stay in Bed and Breakfasts, eat and enjoy your trip all for under $100 each per day? “Impossible!” You say? Wrong, it’s been done and we’re going to teach you how to do it yourself!

Meet Jeff and Louise Davis!

What you’ve just read is a short description of their retirement life, and they want to teach you how to achieve that too. Each winter they have given talks about their tandem travels at the Cascade Bike Club and elsewhere. I caught their talk 2 years ago entitled ‘Going with the Flow: Biking Along Rivers Across Europe’. I’m several years away from retirement, but I’ve got to say, I was inspired and felt that I could see Marcie and I doing a trip like this in the near future. Packing light, traveling by bike and train, staying in real lodging, all this plus affordability? All of this works for us. Jeff and Louise make it look easy and 'doable'. If you think it might be worth learning more, well then we’ve got you covered, but you'll want to hurry.

An Encore Performance
We’re thrilled to say they are coming to R+E Cycles on Saturday, March 31st @ 5:30pm to give a repeat performance for those who missed it the first time. If you saw their show and would like a refresher, you're welcome as well. Admission is free, and space is limited to 60 folks, so be sure to
r.s.v.p. early to ensure your spot. (I'll send you your ticket via email)

Join us for Beverages, Bikes and Bites
on Saturday, March 31st at R+E Cycles at 5:30pm
We will be treating you to free pizza, beer, coffee, or soda as well as as an amazing slide show and instruction from Jeff and Louise. It's like a cyclist's night out and it's on us! You can’t beat free I say. You’ve gotta hurry though because we are limited to 60 people in our shop.

Here's what you'll learn
The first half of their talk shows some of the sights and the fantastic bike paths to ride on that they encountered on five different rivers in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. The second half is a ‘How To’ that will show you just how easy it is to find routes, bicycle guidebooks and maps, lodging, and even meals in places where you don’t speak the local language. They’ll also cover topics like the costs for lodging, food and other expenses, and how to take your bike on the train. At the end, they’ll do a ‘Show & Tell’ with a bike pannier to let you see exactly what they pack for a bike tour of a week, or a whole summer’s length. Now that alone is worth the price of admission, which, by the way, is free!
