The Rodriguez Phinney Ridge
If you live in Seattle or have spent time riding around the Seattle area, you're familiar with Phinney Ridge. It's a neighborhood, but it's also just what it says it is....a ridge. If you live in Ballard, Greenwood, Broadview, or other parts of North Seattle, chances are that you get to ride up it each day on your way to work. Then you get to ride down the other side. As we here in the northwest are aware, it does rain a bit out this way. The combination of hills, city riding and wet conditions call for a different bike...at least for some.
Every Rodriguez Phinney Ridge comes standard with our exclusive stainless steel bottle opener on the seat stay.
There's Nothing New in the Bike Industry
Gravel bikes are considered new in our industry, but they are actually just a new use for an old design. An old design that we at Rodriguez never stopped building. That's right, the gravel bike is nothing more than an old school touring bike with different tires. A Rodriguez Phinney Ridge or the rim brake version Rodriguez Adventure are both perfect designs for gravel grinding, commuting or long distance touring. All you have to do is choose the Gravel King tire option with your new bike and you're hitting the trails!
Fat Tires You Say? The mistake most bike manufacturers make with a disc brake road bike is that they build them to accept only skinny tires and no fenders. We've found that most folks wanting a disc brake road bike want have the option to run really wide tires with fenders. The Phinney Ridge will run up to 45c tires with fenders.
Many of our customers wished we would make a disc brake version of the Rodriguez Adventure for their daily commute. They wanted a nice, sport/touring bike, but didn't want to wear their rims out as quickly. Although they have their ups and downs, disc brakes are great for wet, sloppy, gritty, hilly rides through Seattle streets. Riding in wet conditions with a lot of sand and grit on the roads can result in premature rim wear for the diehard commuter.
Your wait is over! Meet the Phinney Ridge from Rodriguez Bicycles
This bike is perfect for sport riding or daily commuting. A bit heavier than the Adventure, but the disc brakes offer the commuter longer lasting rims and wider tire options. The frame and fork will accommodate up to 35mm wide tires with fenders (or a fat 32mm).
Sizes: All of our bikes are offered in 20 production sizes . If you don't fit one of our production sizes, a custom size frame in any model is just $200 extra.
The Phinney Ridge Limited is a U.S. made bike custom bike made right here in Seattle. Our goal was to bring a hand-built custom bike at a reasonable price. While some of the parts are not the latest and greatest, the heart of any bicycle is the frame. With the Limited you're getting a great frame that's a perfect fit for your 'frame'. Marry the frame, and date the parts we say! The Phinney Ridge Limited is a great bike for everyday commuting, touring, or day riding.
The Phinney Ridge Classic is our most popular Phinney Ridge. It starts with the same frame as the Limited, but comes standard with Shimano 9sp STI shifters, triple cranks for great hill climbing, and steps it up a notch with the TRP Spyre disc brakes. It also comes with a more durable sealed head set. The Classic is an extremely competitively priced, U.S. made, hand-built disc brake road bike. It rides comfortably with its lightweight steel frame, and will provide you decades of riding.
The Phinney Ridge Sport is the same as the Classic, but with Shimano 105 or SRAM Apex components. While most of our Phinney Ridge customers prefer a triple crank and 9-sp rear shifting, not all do. We've had requests quite often for an 11-sp bike with a compact double crank. The Rodriguez Phinney Ridge custom sport bike is about the best value out there in an American made ride! Look around and I think you'll see that our price on this bike stacks up against Shimano 105 or SRAM Apex equipped bikes made overseas.
Wow! Imagine a sweet, lightweight custom road bike decked out with a SRAM Force or Shimano Ultegra kit and TRP disc brakes! Picture that same bike with clearance for up to 45c tires with full fenders, rear rack braze-ons, and an American made True Temper steel frame that's fit perfectly to you, and rides like a dream. No triple crank with the Pro model, but the compact gearing suffices for a lot of our Rainier customers.
Your friends will marvel as you step off your comfortable steel frame after a long ride, and can still sit down for a beer without screaming in pain.
'Weather' you've been wanting a sport bike for commuting in Seattle's rain, or just want a great road bike with disc brakes, the Phinney Ridge is your bike.
In addition to wider tire and fender options, the Phinney Ridge offers
fittings for a rear rack, our hidden fender mounts, and a triple crank set (in the Shimano models). You'll also get our exclusive Rodriguez bottle opener and 3 water bottle mounts.
Run up to 35mm wide (or fat 32mm) tires with fenders. The Phinney Ridge is American made from True Temper or Reynolds butted tubing. This provides the classic light-weight 'steel feel' that Rodriguez road bikes are famous for. We offer the Phinney Ridge with a selection of SRAM or Shimano equipment. Every Phinney Ridge comes with a pair of handbuilt wheels with a 3-year warranty
. It's a comfortable, versatile bike that is perfect for a rainy day commute and our fit is guaranteed.
